Yeah, not a very good review.....but we must accept the bad with the good. To me it just sounds like the only song the reviewer had heard off of DUAL was All the Same.

I was going to say the same thing David...she must have only heard All the Same and was expecting the band to be a softer alternative rock band or something...and she cant have great taste in music to say all the songs on Tri-Polar sound the same

When will people learn they never hoped for the "cute image" from "All the Same"? It just worked out for a video that they made for a friend, and that video just happened to get huge. That doesn't mean that they want that song to be their identity, and that every single song they come out with after should follow that same blueprint.

That just really bothers me. I hate when people base a band off of one song.

^^^I've heard of a lot of people who thought they should have the same cutesy sound as All the Same. I want to be like people they aren't a soft rock alternative type band- they are hard rock and don't want to have that cutesy image.

this reviewer obviously doesnt have a good taste in music.
Sick Puppies are all about the meaning in the lyrics,
lyrics in songs such as "I hate you" simply wouldnt make sense if it had a cutesy tune. The music is used to emphasize the words of a song, (a skill that i believe sick puppies have mastered rather well)

sick puppies choose songs to do with problems.
Howards tale= child abuse
All the same= break ups
odd one= feeling lonely
riptide= peer pressure
your going down= violence

most songs arnt that easy to simply label, but you get the jist.
This reviewer needs to learn that most problems in life arnt really "cute"

Follow-up on this: While searching through WordPress, the author of this article found this thread and had something (very nice and very fair IMO) to say in response. I'm not looking to stir up controversy or anything but for those that are - genuinely - interested, here is the link to read it for yourself.

No kidding! I thought DUAL was way more dark, than Tri-Polar, which I feel has more "hopeful" songs.

^^^^I agree with everything Cassie said (including the challenge).

Firstly, The blogger said that he only heard ATS before doing the review and didn't do any research on the band/music before reviewing TP. If you are going to do ANY type of review and don't know what you are reviewing then do some research. It would take literally 10 min. Just because you aren't getting paid for it doesn't mean it should be done half-a$$ed.

Secondly, again as Cassie said, you cannot base an entire cd review after hearing 1 song. He only heard ATS and based the entire review on knowing that song. If you have listened to almost any of the other SP songs on either album you would know that they are a ROCK band (not softer rock mind you).. Again 5 minutes of youtube searching would have rectified this.

I say we just drop it. If he/she/it wants to write album reviews without backing their opinions up with proper research, by all means I will let them. Who am I to deny them their 1st amendment rights?
