Pumpkin Carving Contest - Sick Puppies Style
Pumpkin Carving ContestContest starts October 1, 2009 Contest ends November 1, 2009 Rules/GuidelinesThis contest is open to all World Crew members aged 13 and older. Get a pumpkin and decorate it with something relating to Sick Puppies. Designs can be drawn, carved, painted, etc. You CANNOT use computer graphics ... all designs MUST be done by hand. There will be 2 categories for this contest: pumpkins that have been pierced/carved, and pumpkins that contain drawings/paintings only. Offensive and/or inappropriate designs will not be considered. Method of submissionTake a photograph of your design(s) and upload the photo(s) to Photobucket, TinyPic or a similar site. Send the URLs to spwc2009@gmail.com along with your username, your real name, mailing address and date of birth. Please also specify in the email whether your submissions are pierced/carved or drawn. Everyone who enters will receive 25 points for each submission. You can submit up to 3 designs. You will receive an extra 25 points if you also take a picture of the pumpkin on your doorstep on Halloween (we will require the picture to include a costumed individual to prove it was taken on Halloween..and for our amusement ). If you do choose to get these 25 bonus points, simply send a link to the picture before November 5, 2009 to spwc2009@gmail.com and the points will be added to your grand total. VotingAll submissions will be put up for a vote within 1 week of the contest end. Please DO NOT reveal which submission is your own so the voting process can be as fair as possible. Prize Prizes will be given to both the best carved pumpkin AND the best drawn pumpkin, as decided by a vote. Winners will each receive a signed setlist from one of Sick Puppies' shows, as well as 100 points. Please note that if there aren't enough entrants for one of the categories (we require AT LEAST five entrants per category), both categories will be merged and one prize will be given. To clarify, if we only receive two drawings (for example), the entries will be merged with the carved category and only one prize will be awarded. Need carving tips? Check out this site. Sick Puppies, their management and World Crew have the rights to all photos to use on websites and publications without any further credit or payment promised.

Very, very cool contest. Although I'm horrible at Pumpkin carving...haha. What exactly do you mean by no computer graphics? Are you referring to printing out a design to trace for the drawing entry? Or printing out a graphic to use as a carving guide? Or both?

Fun contest, I must try it! I made a Hinder pumpkin once, and a pumpkin featuring each Kiss member. Gotta think of a good SP design....

If you want to print out a stencil and then carve it, by all means, go for it. I can't wait to see what we get this year!

I did one with a heart, but I know that there were a few with a heart. Which one are you talking about?

This seems like a really fun contest. I wish I had talent, I might give it shot anyways.

I can't remember who did it, but I think that is the pumpkin that won.

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest - Sick Puppies Style
Yeah, I was totally impressed with the entries last year. Some of those are too cool! I spent so much time on mine last year. I don't know if I'll be able to do it again, depending on how busy I am that week before.

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest - Sick Puppies Style
I'm DEFINITELY participating again!!! Intotally surprised myself last year with how well it turned out! (mine was the Anzai symbol ) Gotta start thinking of designs.... I'm especially excited since I've got a free pumpkin in our yard (we grew pumpkins! It was awesome!!!) And I am planning on going to a blood drove tomorrow that is giving away pumpkins, so I get to do mine for free (well, for a little blood and dizziness lol)

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest - Sick Puppies Style
Not that this has anything to do with this directly, but did anyone see that Halestorm is also running this same contest?

Re: Pumpkin Carving Contest - Sick Puppies Style
I saw that too. But you have to think... Pumpkin carving is something that a LOT of people do, so there's probably TONS of other people running a contest like this in some way, shape, or form. (Besides, I'd rather have a Sick Puppies prize any day of the week, so they can't beat the prizes here! )
