Women's History Month

Unread postby vegawriters » 04 Mar 2016 08:29

Hey Pups!

So it's Women's History Month in March and I was just wondering ... what badass women musicians (including our amazing Emma of course) have inspired you?

Besides Emma, I gotta love Lzzy Hale. I've been rocking along to The Strange Case Of in the car the last few days. I love the looks at stop lights I get as I'm singing along.

Lzzy is something special. I have this whole dissertation in my head about how Into the Wild Life might be one of the most queer-positive, feminist albums of the last ... god ... at least ten years.

I grew up listening to Heart and Fleetwood Mac and a lot of the more rock-oriented singer/song-writers. It was actually a very strange thing for me to realize how male-dominated rock music really was as I got older.

Uliana Cilver, I LOVE and wish I could have seen Cilver when they played with Sick Puppies (In My Head is so amazing)
Becca from Stars In Stereo was pretty friggin awesome.

My girlfriend is helping to bring the Girls Rock Camps to Salt Lake this year and so she's been working on the applications for the next generation of kick ass rocker ladies and we're listening to this crazy awesome playlist from SXSW with different rocker ladies and I'm reminded just how much diversity is really out there. So totally awesome.
